McDonagh's

This setting is from Mícheál Ó Raghallaigh's "The Nervous Man".

I learned this off a Boys of the Lough version, and they called it Charlie Lennon's. We play it to kick off a set with Hunter's Purse and the Cameronian.

good tune! I never heard it before, and I like it. Thanks Dow!

Here's the setting I'm more familiar with--with a strong northern feel.

I have this on vinyl from a band "IONA" which contained either bulmer or sharpley of "The Music of Ireland?" session books (blue, green volumes). They also called it "Charlie Lennons". Always thought it was a damn sexy tune, but no one else knew it to hear or play it until "The Nervous Man"
Nice posting Dow - another BB tune huh?

Although I have played this tune for years, I just recognized today its similarity to "The Cup of Tea".

Note that half the sheetmusic is not my work - it's been converted from Will's abc.

Molloy

Quite amazing that no -one has mentioned that this is the 2nd "McDonagh's" reel played by Matt Molloy on his first solo recording. The McDonaghs are almost certainly the musical brothers from Co.Roscommon.
