The Cobbler

A very old jig which we normally play after Bill Collins and the Kilmovee. I have also heard it referred to as "Dan the Cobbler".

The 2nd part's reminds me of Kitty's Rambles.

The Cobbler

I was referring to this in a Discussion thread today and forgot that I'd posted it until I checked the details - old age and all that!
For anyone who'd like to hear the tune, it's over on the Comhaltas site at http://media.comhaltas.ie/audio/fs2/1-42Cobbler,the.mp3. That's a lovely couple of bars in the second part where it strays into the key of "C".

Yes, a lovely jig... I'd forgotten all about this one, an old favourite...

The Cobbler

I like this D major jig very much, play it a lot at dances, and would like to give some credit to whoever wrote it, if it isn't "trad"--does anyone know who might have composed it? Many thanks--

A.k.a. Marty's Jig

I learned this tune as "Marty's Jig", from "The Very Best of Irish Ceili", Arran Records, CD 2, track 8. Played by Sean and Jim McGuire:
