Up Down and Around is Far Away written by Pete Jung
This tune was written by Pete Jung in 1985 after a dawn dance in Bratteboro. "I wrote it for a particular woman who has an enchanting but elusive quality--that was what I was trying to convey. All I got out of this deal was the tune.." This tune and quote was taken from The Waltz Book by Bill Matthiesen on page 21. Bill has 2 volumes of waltz books with great tunes which can be ordered from Bill Mathiesen, 33 Stormvie Road, Lanesboro, Ma 01237 (413) 442-9172. Address and numer in back of his books.

Goes Great With
This tune is a wonderfully dark waltz that pairs great with The Crested Hen waltz.

Hello.
At one time I had Pete Jung's email address, and I've lost it now. I need to contact him desperately.
If anyone has his email address, please let me know!
Thanks!

= "Far Away" ~ by Pete Jung & b minor
Correction ~ Key signature: b minor
(damned cut-and-paste)
"Far Away" by Pete Jung ~ the melody's earlier origins, rather than "Dave's Place" or any of the several other tags it has picked up over time...

FAR AWAY. American, Waltz. USA, New York. B Minor. Standard tuning. AA'BB. Composed in 1985 by Pete Jung (Kingston, N.Y.), who said: “I wrote this while playing the mandolin, on the way back home from a Brattleboro (VT) Dawn Dance, at about 7 A.M. I wrote it for a particular woman who has an enchanting but elusive quality—that was what I was trying to convey.” The melody has become quite popular and pops up from time to time at sessions. Matthiesen (Waltz Book 1), 1992; pg. 21. CCF2, Cape Cod Fiddlers – “Concert Collection II” (1999). Maggie's Music, Ceoltoiri ‑ "Silver Apples of the Moon." Wild Asparagus ‑ "Tone Roads" (1990). Conor Keane – “Oidhreacht” (appears as “Nicholas Quemener’s Waltz”—Quemener is with the group Arcady).
