Sean Ryan

I once saw Sean play this tune, he always played 'The castle jig' before it, another of his own compositions.
Good luck

The Nightingale

I saw that someone else recently tried to post Kevin Burke and Martin Hayes' setting of this from the In Concert cd. It is a particular nice version, a bit different from nobu's original here. As follows:

T: Nightingale, The
T: Sean Ryan's
C: Sean Ryan
D: In Concert, Kevin Burke (with Martin Hayes on this track)
M: 6/8
L: 1/8

They also sometimes drone the E against the open A in the EAA A2 bits.

Who is sean Ryan?

are you talking a bout the whistle player sean ryan?
i don't know where he's from but i met him at a workshop at the Joe Mooney summer school Co. Leitrim.
(he's Irish obiously)

anyway there's another tune on here by the name of sean ryan's but it goes below the register of the whistle....
i presume we're all thinking of different sean Ryans.

The tunes of Seán Ryan ~

From the book:

"Seán Ryan was born in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary. It was his good fortune to grow up in the Newtown area, an environment steeped in Irish traditional music. The flute was his first instrument, but he began learning the fiddle at an early age. His father Thomas also was an outstanding fiddler. Seán was imbued with a great love for Ireland, her music, song, dance, culture, language, her people and games. He was a champion step-dancer and a very fine singer. ~ " ~ Caitlín & Brian Ryan

i am mistaken... this is not the same sean ryan... he told us of how his grandmother helped him learn whistle and that she played a squeeze box......
thaks for taking the time though,
very much appreciated

It's easy to confuse the two Sean Ryans at first. The whistle Sean Ryan lives in Tipperary, and that's where fiddle Sean Ryan was from as well. Then we have the two box players named Paddy O'Brien of course. There's also two Seamus Egans that both play banjo. Oh the humanity!
