For John Joe
There you go, y'boy ye!
I got this tune off Brian O'Connor's "Come West Along The Road" album (which I reckon is one of the most under-rated albums of the past decade, so there!)
I haven't been able to track down tab or sheet music for it and this setting is closer to the way I play it on mandolin than O'Connor plays it on flute.
A lovely, quirky polka.

Lakes of Sligo?
Aidan,
I know this one as The Lakes of Sligo and normally play it in D major. Forget the version already posted on thesession as it is erroneously scored in
1 flat instead of 2 sharps and sounds like sh*te.

Brian
(sorry ... that's a dreadful in-joke ... or sort of in- ... mea culpa. mea culpa, etc.)
Thanks.
I may have misremembered O'Connor and co's take on this. I could have sworn he changed key from D to G at the change.
The G version is so much easier to play (for me at least) than the D version (the high b being always problematic for someone with my poor technique). Maybe I'll set out the D version as The Spent Money (second setting).

That's the very man!
Except I would play bars 1 and 5 as F>A AB/c/
