Single jig?
This appears to be a representative of the elusive single jig genre.
Whistleman, do you have any info about this tune - where did you learn it from?

Yes, this is a single jig. My version comes primarily from the CD entitled "Micho Russell: Ireland's Whistling Ambassador," but there is a little of the Solas version in it as well. It's a happy, bouncy kind of tune--very catchy too. Play it for your friends, and you'll hear them humming it all day long, I'm sure.
Also, as I was looking at this tune again I realized that I always play the second ending of the B part differently. Instead of:
bgg gag|~g3 gfe|
I play:
bgg agg|bgg gfe|
I think it's a little less awkward than the way I posted it.

The A part sounds spookily like the Northumbrian tune I posted a while back called "The Holey Ha'penny".
