Deirdre's Fancy

I play this after a better known slip slip jig called The Butterfly.

I can hear that! Beauty in simplicity.

This tune is nearly identical to the melody of the sean nos song, Gaire na mBan, recorded on Aine Minogue's CD Were You at the Rock. I've always loved the tune, but could never find it searching under Gaire na mBan (I roughly translate this as Woman's Laughter?) until I stumbled upon it here.

Love this simple tune. Caught my attention because my daughter's name is Deirdre. Maybe she'll play it one day. (She's only two now).

It has the same sort of chord structure as A Fig For A Kiss. Fig is the better tune though imo.

There were no differences in the transcript, except that it was wrongly given as D Major, but here are some of the comments:

I haven't a clue where it comes from but I often play it alongside the Foxhunt slip jig. If it's not on The Session I will put it on.
