I love this tune. It's my favourite scottish reel. For me who wrote it is a genius.

TailToddle- coincidence
The day before you posted this, Gian Marco, Archie Fisher, the presenter of Radio Scotland's "Travelling Folk" programme played the song of the tune from a newly-released CD in memory of Tony Cuffe, and it's as good a piece of Scottish traditional music as I've ever heard. Archie said that the glossary of words translated from Scots into English is almost as long as the song itself. The CD is on the "Greentrax" label and is called "Sae Will We Yet", I think you might like it. The programme can be heard on the internet for the next 5 days. You might like to check it out , and I'd be interested to know what you think, if you do.

Tail Toddle
This i think is the basis of Sean Sa Cheo played by and attributed to Neillie Boyle late Donegal fiddler.Claiming to compose trad music is an oxymoron?

I've heard this one in my session recently. I quite like it.

"Ghillie Callum" / "Tail Todle" / "Sword Dance" ~ & correction

Both of these two airs have been associated with the song and the Sword Dance...
CORRECTION: The link to "Whistle" above was a mistake on my part, a 'confusion' late at night (a.m.) under the influence of too many Strathspeys and associated Scottish intoxicants...

Tail Toddle
This appears under the title of "Little Wot Ye Wha's Coming" in the Northumbrian minstrelsy. This 4-part setting is similar to the James Aird setting above but is in a different key:

The following transcription is from this recording http://www.thesession.org/recordings/display/2243 , played by Welsh fiddler Huw Roberts under the name of 'Ffidl Ffadl' (The last line is conjecture - I got it from a free sound clip, being too tight to buy the CD):
T: Ffidl Ffadl
K: D Major
L:1/8
M:2/4

g2dB | Bg dB | g2dB |Ae cA |
{g2dB | Bg dB | e/f/g f/g/a | e2 cA :|}
There is a tune posted as Ffidl Ffadl
http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/2146 which is clearly a closely related tune, but the version on this recording is in fact closer to this tune than the one by that name.
