Dever the Dancer

I got this tune from fiddler Kevin O'Brien of Boston.

This tune is often paired with "Connie the Soldier," as flutist John McKenna played it that way on his recordings from the late 1920s.

A little Extra

I have taken to playing this tune on top of "Kid on the Mountain" The A parts are amusing together. The B parts are are great together. Just continue with the 'Kid when you are finished with "Dever the Dancer"

Thanks for posting it John

Dever the Dancer

I learned this more than 2 years ago, but haven't played it for long until it popped out of my flute quite recently. It really goes nicely with Taim in Arrears: http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/993 The two tune actually have similar 2nd parts.

Last Bar

Is it just me or should the last bar have a C# instead of a Cnat?

To answer my own question, yes some people play it with a C# in the last bar of each part. Here is the version I play which is nearly identical to the Dervish version. Dervish definatly plays it with a C#.

This was submitted by tin_whistler with the title "The Humours of Whiskey", but no information as to where they'd acquired the tune or the title... Maybe in the future? :-/

Well... # Posted on May 10th 2007 by tin_whistler:

"I got the title from Na Piobairi Uilleann's Volume 1 tutor for the pipes. Which, when I first saw that title, I thought it was already taken by another tune, the version heard from the Chieftains 2 album. Such is Irish music... =) And to think, I was so happy to have finally submitted a tune, better do my homework better next time!! =) I guess the ending is different... For what it's worth. Oops!" ~ tin_whistler

Thankyou...

ceolachuan. I should also probably add that the ABC version I posted, is not exactly the one as given for the Volume 1 tutor for the uilleann pipes by Na Piobairi Uilleann, but a very close simulant. Thanks again,

# Posted on May 10th 2007 by tin_whistler

Nice, just the way some of us like it... A 'simulant'? ;-)

Goes well with ''the butterfly''

The first part sounds a bit like a double time version of the butterfly and goes well into it, or after it.
