Statia Donnelly

I learned this classic D mix jig through osmosis, hearing it from different players around Montana coming to Helena for sessions. I love the shifts between c natural and c sharp, and the swingy feel you get from those FGA phrases. To me, this tune works best at a moderate to slow tempo--a deliberate, almost march-like pace. There's also lots of room for variations:

You can play the opening phrase as:
|FGA cAG|BAG cAG|FGA cAG|Ad^c d2 A|
or
|FGA c2 A|BAG cAG|
or
|FGA ~c3|BAG cAG|
or
|FGA cAG|~B3 cAG|

Similarly, the ending phrase of the A part responds well to the slightes changes:
|FGA cAA|def ~g3|dcA GEA|DED D2 A:|
or
|FGA cde|fed ~g3|dcA GEA|DED D2 A:|

Some ideas for the B part include:

|~d3 cAG|def g2 e|ded cAB|cec ABc|
|ded cA/B/c|def g2 e|dcA GEC|DED DFA|
or
|dcA cAG|AB/c/d efg|afd cAB|cBc ABc|
|ded cAA|def g2 e|dcA GEA|GEA GED|into Part A

Air of this name (Paddy Taylor)

Paddy Taylor's album of around 1970 ("The Boy in the Gap") contains on side one an air called "An Paistin Fionn." Am wondering the relationship, if any, of this air and the jig of the same name.

This jig was derived from the air. The jig is in Ryan's under the title "The Pustheen Fawn," I think is how it's spelled, with the parts reversed from how they're played here.

Tune confusion

On my recent trip to Ireland, whenever I played the jig I learned from Kevin Crawford's CD, "In Good Company" called "Finbar Dwyer's" the B part of this tune would show up. Evidentially they both share the same A part -- beware. This tune seems to be better known and more widespread.
