The Chieftains do a great version of this tune. Presumably they got it from Sean O'Riarda, Cuil Aodha being his homeground, so to speak.
Cuil Aodha lies in the Sliabh Luachra region where slides and polkas are very popular. Defining the Sliabh Luachra style is only slightly less difficult than defining the area's borders (it seems to vary depending on who you ask).
I'm a big fan of the Sliabh Luachra sound. If you'd like to hear slides like this one being played in the Sliabh Luachra style, try to get hold of some recordings by people like Julia Clifford, Dennis Murphy, anyone with the surname O'Keefe and, more recently, Matt Cranitch.
