Not a hornpipe
I fell in love with this little tune since i first heard it in Hammy Hamilton's "Moneymusk" CD.
This is not a hornpipe, but a highland; it has a "dotted" (bouncy) feel but swings a little differently. Your best bet is to listen to the CDs (Moneymusk or Harry Bradley's "As I carelessly did stray..."). Failing that, if you have a PC, try feeding this into ABCMus and change the rhythm to highland, Q=1/4=160.
In the Moneymusk, this tune is called "If we hadn't any women in the world."
This setting is transcribed from Harry Bradley, keeping just a minimum of the ornamentation. It's really a simple tune, and works best played simply.

Followed by ...
I have heard a pair of tunes played by an old box player from Tyrone called "If There Were No Women/ If There Were No Men". But can't recall if this matches the first in his set.

If we hadn't any women
Dunno, Longnote, sounds like it might be.
More info: Harry Bradley says he learned this tune from Hammy Hamilton. Hamilton, in his liner notes, has: "[This] very unusually named tune was recorded by James Morrison in New York in May 1928 on the Columbia label. He also called it 'The Bereffoy' and classified it as a barn dance."
Interestingly enough, the tune that goes with this one in Hammy's album (called "The Moneymusk" by him) is also known as "The Highland", so i'm wondering if Harry maybe got confused and took the title for the second tune as if it were for the first.
There are no big differences between Hammy's setting and Harry's.

It sounds like it could be derived from a song melody. The first part has echoes of The Road to the Isles.

Song?
Could be. The long title (If we hadn't any women in the world) could be the first line of the lyrics. It fits on the melody, anyway.

This is a barndance not a hornpipe

THIS IS A BARNDANCE! - there are actually clear signs of why
No, while it is related, even sibling wise, to hornpipes and highland flings, it isn't either. It is a rolicking bouncy 32 bar 'barndance'... Yes about the pairing, I've put the variant name 'If There Weren't Any Men' and 'If There Were No Men' to the other barndance this was sometimes paired with, 'The Hills of Tara', going way back to 78s even...

There are so many things collecting in what seems to have become a dustbin category, that it would be nice to have a higher percentage of actual 'barndances' collected under there, some caught up in the hornpipe section include 'The Glenbeigh', and also, though smeared closer to a hornpipe, 'The Peacock's Feather'...

OK, changed to barndance
There.

So what are the clear signs as to why?

Terry Teahan - on a high

I've copy of James Morrison's recording of this - also the Paddy Killoran Orchestra's. Like Cuz Teahan they played in D, going all the way to high D in the second part. Hamilton and Bradley reset the tune into G, probably because of the crappy instruments they play can't get up there, nyuk nyuk.

"Hammy Hamilton's Highland" ~ a cheerful little piece from the playing of Anthony Quigney and Aidan McMahon on their cd, "A Clare Conscience". This is one of my favorite tracks on the whole cd, and that's saying something. They play this with a lot of swing and lift, and the blend of fiddle and flute is particularly sweet here.
Listening to the fiddle, you'll hear a number of bowed triplets adding momentum, as in: |B/B/c dB AGAB|A2 AB A2... and |ed B/c/d gdBG|

This is the third German on track 9 of "Ceol Aduaidh", with Frankie and Mairead. I've learned most of it by ear, but there were a few stray notes I wasn't getting. This is a beautiful barndance, with low notes, which I like.
Here is the source, which also has several other barndances in abc format,

"If There Weren't Any Women In The World"
Well, I personally don't think it would be as cheery as this little number suggests. An old favourite, and here are some other ways with it in D Major, following enirehtac's submission in that loveable lower take ~

Such a cheerful sounding tune!
There is a nice version of this played in D by Mairead and some young fellers at the end of this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwlcr5u9wG8
