Gan Ainm

This jig sprouts at our local session about every other week. Nobody has a name for it yet, so if you recognize it, please let me know and I'll post the name(s). The B part is gymnastic, at least on fiddle, but well worth the trouble. A good tune to remind us all to minimize excess motion in our arms, hands, and fingers if we want to keep up with those whistle players....

"Cape Breton's Own"

A close relative, both played by Winston "Scotty" Fitzgerald, an amazing Cape Breton dance fiddler:

Another Champion Jig associated with Cape Breton is in the Jerry Holland Collection, No. 251, pg. 72. Very nice tune, in the key of F Major this time. Swear I've seen in it Ryan's or Kerr's, too. Perhaps I'll put some of these obscure tunes up on the Ew Tyube when I have a chance. Or Internet Archive.

Should also say that I learned this other tune from Winston Fitzgerald's playing, on Celtic CX34, Winston 'Scotty' Fitzgerald & His Radio Entertainers.

Oops, I see that the tune Ceolachan linked to above played by 'Scotty' is my tune. Only why wouldn't Paul Cranford know that title?
