I'm starting to feel like the tune police. This tune is clearly in G major, so those c's should be natural, not sharped. Or have I gone barking mad?

Ruf! ruf!

G

I think you're right, though it's easier to play it in the flute this way. :-)

So what sound does a barking dog make in Gaelic? :o)

# Posted on January 13th 2003 by Miss Lonelyhearts

Well, "tathfan" means the barking of dogs, but I expect that Irish dogs go "woof woof" like other dogs do. :)

P.S.

Ever heard the Worms's song The Gaelic Song? Heow meow meow meow meow meow meow BARK meow....

Fixed

Okay, you can quit yer howling.

I've updated the sheetmusic and soundfile so that the Cs are natural.

In the partly Irish ceili(dh) band I play with, for the Cumberland Square Eight (an English/Scottish Country Dance), we play a tune called Major McKee, which is essentially the same tune as this slide (quinte a number of Kerry slides and polkas seem to have their origins in Scotland and elsewhere). It goes like this:

Major McKee

David, I don't think Major McKee is the same as Nicolas McAuliffe's . For me is another and different beautiful tune.
Why don't you submit it as a new tune?
