This tune is actually in Gm (no slot for that in the key menu). I wrote it for my father, born and raised in Brooklyn NY, first generation American of Irish parents from County Roscommon. I promise to not post many original tunes, but this one's so much fun to play, slow or fast, I couldn't resist.

Gminor?
I've added "Gdorian" to the list of key signatures. Same as Gminor, but with the E played natural (same scale as Fmajor or Dminor). I think that's the right mode for this tune.
You're right about this tune being fun to play. It's excellent!
One for the tunebook, methinks.

Thanks, Jeremy, for correctly pegging it in G dorian. And thanks too for the enthusiasm for the tune. Too many original tunes can muck up a web site, but a few can bring new lift into the tradition. Liz Carroll's test for a new tune is whether it's structure is clear and interresting enough to others that they pick it up and play it...we'll see what lands on The Session's play list.

Forgive me Will, another key and a few slight diversions to your tune, but as I'm 'retiring', and as I like the tune, sometimes I go here with it, call this a 'last gasp'?
I suspect some instruments may find it more under finger this way, maybe?
