This tune was written and recorded by Frankie Gavin of De Danann.

I find that this tune doesn't need much ornamentation; it's hard enough to play as it is. Start playing this at a slow pace until you've got the tune stuck in your head. Then you can start picking up the pace a bit. I suppose it's only to be expected that a tune written by a fiddle virtuoso like Frankie Gavin isn't going to be easy to play. Still, it's worth the effort.

There is a Seaside spot in Norn Iron called BallyWhisken: "The Wren's Nest". It has the smallest bathe-able beach I've ever seen.

This is a transcription of the tune as first recorded by De Danann on the album 'Anthem'. The B part is very tricky on the fiddle, less so on whistle.

The Wrens Nest

I learned this tune many years ago from Fraser Howitt, a fiddler from Yorkshire. He played the 'C' section first, then the 'A', then the 'B'. It was not a much-heard tune, which is a pity, because it's an excellent jig.

We used to follow it with "Cut the File"

@Robert Ryan :

Your timing is incorrect..

The fixed version of yours :

X: 1
T: The Wren's Nest
C: Frankie Gavin
M: 6/8
L: 1/8
R: jig
K: Edor

A lovely jig anyway. Easy to play on the whistle in Ador (well, a lot of C...). But Edor is definitely more 'violinistic' (not sure is such a word in English).
