From a New England collection. Does anyone know the origin of the tune or its name?

This tune is found in both the New England Fiddler's Repertoire and The Portland Collection. It is often just called Quindaro. Flutist/Whistler Sarah Bauhan recorded this tune on her Chasing the New Moon cd. Her Untamed Grasses is also a fun album. You can sometimes catch her in New Hampshire sessions.

Nelson
This great old tune was played by Newt Tolman, Larry Delorier and Dudley Laufman in the grand old days of the Saturday night Nelson, NH, contra dances. It was some scene in the late sixties - old farmers, local woodsmen, long haired hippies and braless women, New England dowagers and fifteen musicians on stage. There is still a Monday night get-together often presided over by Bob McQuillan.
