This is another tune Conal Ó Gráda's played this year at Cruinniú na bhFliúit. It is not one of his compositions but he did not give a name for it. However it bears a great similarity to a tune (appropriately) called "All the World Loves Me" in "Ceol rince na hÉireann" Volume 4 (no. 122). His version is better, especially with the double 'B' note in the second part. He really blasted those out when he played it.

Muing Fhliuch Reels

Hi Niall,

This reel is from Conal's latest album, Cnoc Bui. This is one reel in a set he played and called the Muing Fhliuch reels. He plays them well!

Thanks to 'celtic marine' for pointing this out. Completely missed this.

Duplicated

This is a version of The Drummond Lasses: http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/1945

While there are clearly similarities between this tune and "The Drummond Lasses" this could hardly be described as a duplication.

IMHO this is a duplication. But I'm open to different opinions and interested in what others think about this tune.

I with you on this, Hiro.

Yep, duplication. Drummond Lasses it is.

In light of the comments above I have posted a copy of the ABCs on the comments of "The Drummond Lasses" in case this tune is deleted, as I think it is still worth noting the version that a player such as Conal Ó Gráda may have.

Hi Niall
Almost the same as Handsome Sally from Hidden Fermanagh, recorded by Pat McManus on CD vol 1. The second part is identical, the first part of Handsome Sally tends more towards the minor (e minor). Breathnach collected a version from Mickey Doherty and also a version from Jonnie Maguire of Cavan, which appears in Vol 3 (no.1)

Sharon, I've transcribed "Handsome Sally" from Pat McManus's fiddle playing and post the transcription in the comments of "The Drummond Lasses": http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/1945/comments#comment129493
