More of a hornpipe...

This tune was composed by George McIntyre and is really a hornpipe although I've added it here as a reel.

So, please interpret same as you see fit.

In the second last bars of each half, the last note differs, i.e. "c sharp" and "d" respectively. I'm not too sure why (This is a version I pinched elsewhere) but either will work very well.

Half a tune.....................

This tune has 4 parts, not only 2. Could you add the other 2 parts before the sheet music comes up, please ?

Has been popular up here for a few years.
I'm surprised it wasn't here already.
I just picked it up with the C# in both sections
Most times I hear a third and fourth variation part.
Like this but in D:

Oh, Kenny got in before me. Perhaps you could be so kind as to do the transposed abc John?

Parts 3 & 4....

|: a2 | AdfA dfAd | fA A2 BGGB | GBdG gfed | cdec A2 a2 |
AdfA dfAd | fA A2 BGGB | GBdG gfec | Acec d2 :|
|: fg |adda aAda | AaaA BGGB | BGdG gfed | cdec A2 fg |
adda aAda | AaaA BGGB | GBdG gfec | Acec d2 :|

Haven't been able to check this, but am pretty sure it's right.

Your 7th bars are wrong - should be GBdG, same as in the 3rd, not GBdB.

Your second part is wrong - should be :

fg |: a2 df afdB | BGdG BGGB | GBdG gfed | cdec A2 fg |
a2 df afdB | BGdG BGGB | GBdG gfec | Acec d2 :|

Hi Kenny,

Thanks for that. I've (hopefully) amended the tune corrctly now.

I'll just post the original notation which I submitted here for info.
According to J C's, this was an arrangement by Barbara McOwen but it's obviously "nae recht"
:-)

Sorry...

2nd bar and 6th bar, 2nd part above - should be GBdG - not BGdG.

Thanks... sorted,

Hope I'm not stating the obvious, but to a piper the essence of this tune is in the phrasing, particularly in the 3rd and 4th parts. The first two parts are ok as a fiddle reel, but in the 3rd and 4th parts I believe that having the 'dots and cuts' in the right places is an essential element of the composition.
