What was your source?

The tune shares its title with one of the most scary plays (based on story) ever shown on the BBC - the original play, with Michael Hordern, still causes the occasional shiver up the spine just by remembering it back in 1968 or thereabouts.

"Oh, Whistle, And I'll Come To You, My Lad"

"Foxglove", who have recorded this on their CD "Moving Cloud", the only link in the 'details'... The only news there is that it "was sourced from an old Irish music manuscript". That could be just a scrap of old style ABC notation. I wish I knew more...

I'll have to look up that story/play...

There is an air called "Oh, Whistle, And I'll Come To You, My Lad", in one of the Gow collections.

The Fiddler's Companion - Andrew Kuntz:
http://www.ibiblio.org/fiddlers/WHI_WHZ.htm#WHISTLE_AND_I%27LL_COME_TO_YOU_MY_LAD

"The air was reputedly composed by fiddler John Bruce, born between 1700 and 1720 in Braemar." ~

"Moving Cloud: Foxglove"

Talk about losing sleep and getting things mixed around. The group's name is "Moving Cloud" and their CD is "Foxglove". :-/ ~ ;-)
