Corn RIGS
The "folk process" has been at work again. This is a Donegal barndance version of the air from the traditional Scottish song "Corn RIGS".
The late much-lamented Tony Cuffe did a brilliant version of the song on one of "Ossian"s recordings.

Ossian
The recording was Seal Song, also where they recorded The Sound of Sleat.

Corn Rigs - also a name for this dance:
"THE CORN RIGS"
This dance was also danced to 16 bar 'Highlands', this is just 'one (2!) version' in the family:
NOTE: as in other dances in this family, you can dance it smooth, sans the hop/skip, or with that little extra 'lift'. I'll describe it here with the skip, which on the whole is mainly just a lift and drop of the heel, sane considering the dance surfaces tended to be unforgiving, not 'sprung'.
HOLD - partners facing and taking hands crossed, rights over lefts, elbows bent and down, at about chest height with compromise, man's back (usually but not religiously) to the center of the dance space/woman facing him. Start with weight on Man's R/Woman's L.
PHRASE 8 bars - - -
Bar 1: dance to the side Hop-123
(M: HopLRL/W: HopRLR)
Bar 2: REPEAT with opposite footwork and direction
Bar 3: 'Plaiting Step' = 2 X Hop-Step
Hop ('chugging' forward on the 'hop') and bring the free foot behind and Step/REPEAT with opposite footwork.
(M: Hop,L,Hop,R/W: Hop,R,Hop,L)
Bar 4: dance 'Plait' once more and stepping behing 123. This can be the 'rocking step'.
(M: HopLRL/W: Hop RLR)
Bars 5-8: REPEAT with opposite footwork and direction.
(NOTE #2: a close variant - Bars 3-4 can be just the 'Plaiting Step' = 4 X Hop-Step, and Bars 5-8 can be a REPEAT with the same footwork and direction.)
PHRASE 8 bars - - -
Bars 1-6: dance 'round with 6 X Hop123, couple turning Clockwise while travelling around the dance area Anti-Clockwise (ACW/CCW).
(M begins HopLRL/W begins HopRLR)
Bars 7-8: the couple can continue dancing around with Hop123 twice more, or 4 X Hop-Step.
(Hop-Step - M: Hop,L,Hop,R,Hop,L,Hop,R/W: opposite footwork)

Here's a version in G I found in on the 'net that is very close to the version I learned recently (for which I don't have the ABC). I think it's the same tune, as a reel.
T: Corn Riggs
M: 4/4
L: 1/8
K: G
R: Reel
