Munster Buttermilk
Sorry about the typo in the title of the previous posting! Why do they put "b" and "n" next to each other on the keyboard?

Sports of Mutfarnan
Two years later someone comes along with an alternative title. I hope it's picked up by someone. I have this as Sports of Multfarnan and play it in the key of 'D'

Bridge of Athlone
If you want a tune for the dance "The Bridge of Athlone", you will need a three-part jig, like the other tune called "Munster Buttermilk". Alternatively, you have to play it AABBAB, which is a pain, speaking as an old barn-dance musician.

Very odd to see it not in D.
Since the only recordings I know of it are Denis Murphy, then Mick o'Brien and Caoimhin o'Raghallaigh. Must be a Sliabh Luachra thing?

"Frank Stamp's" ~ Newfoundland
It's been recorded in D in Newfoundland a couple of times recently, under the name "Frank Stamp's". As near as I can tell, they play just one phrase differently from what is listed above as "Christmas Day in the Morning". I think it also cropped up once recently in D in our local session, which is very far from Newfoundland, alas.

"Munster Buttermilk" ~ different cultures
There are multiple tunes with the name "Munster Buttermilk." Don't confuse this two-part jig with the "Munster Buttermilk" also known as "Behind the Haystack," a tune in D with three parts.

Munster Buttermik
When I first learnt this jig we played in in the key of G. and we called it Munster Buttermilk. I also knew it as Christmas Day in Morning, which makes me think maybe the tune had words to it to do with Christmas.

Munster Buttermilk
Also on Packie Byrne and Bonnie Shaldjean's "The Half Door", on Dingles, where they play it in D. It's nice in D
