Gan Ainm
I heard this tune at a session in Drumshanbo, but I don't know the name... Does anyone know it ?
Maybe it's just a version of an existing tune, I love it though.

Johnny Junior
Where did you get the name "Johnny Junior" from?
I have played it through and it reminds me of a tune, I don't know what, possibly a Scottish pipe tune. In particular the 2nd part but I think the first part starts differently.
All very vague I know.

Oh Johnny Junior is just a joke, it's because the boy who played this tune looked like someone I know called Johnny...
If someone has a proper name for this tune, I'll change it.
Do you know the name of your Scottish pipe tune ?

No I don't have the name. I wouldn't name the tune after a "joke" on here or that might end up seeping into the tradition and before you know it someone has it on their album called Johnny Junior and labelling it as an old traditional Irish tune. Much better to call it just Gan Ainm as Jeremy asks you to.
I will have a dig around and see if I can come up with a name for it.

Ok you're right, it's not a good idea especially if it's a recent composition. I've changed the name to Gan Ainm, thank you for telling me.

Inspector Donald Campbell of Ness
Ahh - it is a 2 part version of the 4 part pipe tune "Inspector Donald Campbell of Ness". An online source has the composer as Peter MacLeod Jnr.
Of course this could be an established Irish version with parts 3 and 4 stripped out and parts 1 and 2 changed.

I should say thanks to Karen Hannah for providing the title.

Ok I found it played by the band Canterach (on iTunes).
I've changed the abc and added the other 2 parts, it must be ok now.
Here's the version I know anyway :
X: 1
T: Inspector Donald Campbell Of Ness
M: 6/8
L: 1/8
R: jig
K: Amaj

And nicely done too. I was rushing out when I saw this and had planned to come back to chase up a title for you, but I see you're in good hands anyway...

Tune Origin
Yes, this is a pipe jig, by Pipe Major Peter MacLeod, from Skye. Played the same on pipes as it's written here. Such a beautiful tune when accompanied with the right chords.
