How Came You By This Tune?
Is this a tune you learned from local sessions in your area?
Or did you transcribe it off a trad band's CD/live performance?
Is this a trad tune or one of your own tunes?
Is it a Dump & Run from a cut and paste out of a tune book?
Depends I guess where it came from.
Inquiring minds want to know.
Can I submit my own compositions?

Dan, check the 'Details', this is from the comments for the recording this is on ~
"5 Second Rule is a relatively new band from Dallas, Texas"
But, maybe it is dlovrien's, David Lovrien's (the contributor), composition, or, more hopefully, they can at least tell us something more about this ~ do they play it themselves, or is it now a local session tune or just something the band cooked up for the craic?

In general, pretty much of a mess, very little agreement between parts, as often happens when folks 'try too hard', and forget the traditions that came before them ~ IMO...

by 'tradition' I mean the main flow of general content and discussion that takes place here, that subject we are in the main interested in collectively... And with full understanding that daft messy tunes are also a part of that tradition...

About the tune
Sorry to leave this incomplete yesterday; I was called away and am a little surprised how quickly this was pounced on.
This is an original tune, written as part of a set of tunes the band composed in a sort of Asturian style. I do plan to share it in local sessions as I think it is a lot of fun to play. I saw that our CD had been submitted (by someone outside the band) to the Recordings page and thought I'd share some of our originals from it. If that's against the rules I apologize.
The title was inspired by dialogue from the movie "Must Love Dogs".

About the tune
~c~
Must have posted before the recorded sources got listed...
~c~ & dlovrien~
It's just a little thing of mine--if I like a tune, then I'll take the time to learn it. If I take the time to learn it, I want to know as much about it so I can pass it on to others giving credit where credit is due--in this case info about the composer, recorded sources, how the tune came to be, etc. In other words, the story behind the story. That way when it gets passed on, the tune doesn't suffer the ignominy of losing the details in transit, becoming just another gan ainm tune with no history surrounding its origin.

~ ditto Dan ~ but this one ain't for me. While I quite like Asturian tunes, I don't see the connection there either...
dlorien (I first wrote DeLorean) ~ there's nothing wrong with submitting tunes, including the compositions of 'others', but if you submit your own, please bother to read the FAQs, here, compositions, and that was obvious here, can end up with a gentle pounce, or an out and out plop back, a kind of equal and opposite reaction. Also the reactions come when something is dropped on site and nothing at all is said. I've even experimented with that by purposfully not commenting, setting the bait ~ and waiting for the pounce.
Good luck with your CD and your band...

I still got it wrong ~ dlovrien...

Actually ~ to be honest ~ I quite enjoy playing it, especially the B-part... Guilty pleasures...

C: ? ~ give the compose some credit, and is there a story behind the title?
Sometimes it just takes a bit of time and having fun knocking a thing around. This is where it took me, so you know a trip was taken, but this is just giving some other options than those already offered here ~ maybe it was the wild garlic ~
