Norwich
I learned this tune from dance caller Flip Alpern 20 years ago.
He learned it directly from David Kaynor, who wrote it in 1985.
The tune was inspired by David's old music partners Jeff and Kathy Walker
and their housemate Ruth Sylvester who used to be an active dance
caller. They lived in a large, beautiful house which was the scene of
great fellowship, music, and cross country skiing.
Another beautiful tune, from caller/fiddler/composer David Kaynor.
More tunes of David's can be found on his website:

Duplication
okay it's not really a duplication, but it's pretty hokey. You understand that an Irish session is different than a contradance right?
P.S. sorry Jeremy - on my way to donate right now

Duplication
I had never knowingly heard Pottinger's Reel at the time I wrote Norwich. So to the extent that duplication occurs in Norwich ... a point on which not everyone agrees ... it wasn't intentional.
I intended this tune to be played at contra dances ... specifically, my own, in a band with the friends from Norwich, Vermont in whose honor I wrote it.
David Kaynor
P.S. No one took airport's bait. Should I?

At least you're a fish that can smell the bait and just coast past it... I love it when a composer drops in to leave comment on one of their own.
If you've more story to add to this, that too would be most welcome...
