I'll have to put her CD on and try to follow your transcription that way...

Execute me, but?
Ceolachan, Why do you think I need to lerarn ABC notation? Could you please specify? I gladly receive more wisdom! -also from you. Now, "& do a tune search ~" part: Have done! OF COURSE!! What would you suggest that I do when my findings differ to a degree that I believe others might have a faint interest i it?
With respect
Fiel

Please tell me what you think of my transscribsion, which, by the way, is only of the first slow part.
Thank you
# Posted on December 13th 2009 by fiel
Actually, as I hear it, I would prefer to pu it in 2/2, how?
# Posted on December 13th 2009 by fiel
Yes, I used to play this march... I thought it rang as familiar, and especially after you made the Cape Breton connection. Basically your ABC notation is messy, even confusing. Here's just the A-part ~

Even in the sometimes densely black practice of doing them 2/4 it would never be 4 bar parts...

Learn sight reading, please ;-B
# Posted on December 13th 2009 by fiel
"Hey, Johnny Cope"
& the usual spelling, including on Natalie's album....
# Posted on December 13th 2009 by ceolachan
Sorry fiel ~ you're the one that has it completely wrong... And I doubt this will last, but that's Jeremy's decision...

I'll leave you with your convictions... You obviously think you're in the right, but you won't find it transcribed this way anywhere, I promise you, except in your own doing...

# Posted on December 13th 2009 by ceolachan
The general rule here, even if it is transcribed from a respected source, as here, and even if it might offer more parts, is to put it in the 'comments' for the earlier transcription, not my rules, the site's, Jeremy's, and most of us try to follow that, if not all the time...
But, c'est la vie... Some of us enjoy our convictions, right or wrong...
# Posted on December 13th 2009 by ceolachan
Ceolachan, What key?
is your example in?
BTW thank you for your correction about being messy.. I work hard on a new and less messy version to put uo here...but it IS in minor key. As Natalie plays it.
# Posted on December 13th 2009 by fiel
I didn't say anything about the, sorry... I play it with Bb and F & C & E natural, and it revolves around and resolves on G... That should tell anyone what key it is in. It's not minor...
# Posted on December 13th 2009 by ceolachan
Key: G Dorian
K: GDor ~ as Natalie plays it too...
# Posted on December 13th 2009 by ceolachan
Damn, lured back in. I'm going for good now... Have it your own way...
# Posted on December 13th 2009 by ceolachan
"gm"
Weird sharps aside (^) both g minor and G Dorian share the same base chord ~ g minor...
# Posted on December 13th 2009 by ceolachan
G anyway
Thankyou Ceolachan, the musicin this version has no E but one Eb so the key is....Chinese? Pentaton?

I understand that if I have another version of a tune then it should be postet as a comment to a existing tune. I'll do so, but also pu a new and purified ABC hotation here. And do let me know if it is to your satisfaction ....I'm learning ...I'm learning ....I'm learning

You did ask ~ It still ******, sorry... But at least those awful sharp chords, like the "^gm" & "^dm" are no more and you now have 8 bars instead of 4, sigh... Best of luck with your convictions...

Now I really do need to get back to enjoying my brew and finishing some work on old recordings, 78s... Somehow that scratch is preferable...

Honestly I like your kind of humour. Will you be my sponsor? [please]

Phonetic punctuation
Ceolachan

did you WRITE phonetic punctuation? I must admit it must be somewhat difficult to write.
Do you know p-language?
The simple rule are as follows: say the first syllable, repeat with a P in the beginning of the syllable, say the second syllable, repeat with a P in the beginning, and so forth.
Ex: I think sheetmusic is only a shadow of music played in a session=
Ipi thinkpink sheetpeetmupusicpic ispis onponlypy apa shapadowpow ofpof mupusicpic playedplayed inpin apa sespessionpion.
OK?

...Then you should try S- language. Same rules, but with S...

In fact it is some variations as Natalie McMaster plays it.
