Does anyone know the origin of this tune? Who wrote it?

Don't know...
As far as I know, this tune first appeared on Larry Nugent's first solo recording in 1996, which was "gian marco's" source, as noted above. I looked at the CD sleeve insert, and there are no details about the tune at all. Larry has composed a few tunes, it might be one of his own.

According to Sarah McQuaid's Book...
this tune originates with Willie Johnston of Lack, Fermanagh who got the tune from the fairies.

I've heard it said that it's an old contradance tune that was often played in the 70s at contradances in New England.
