Single reel?

~ or more likely, as a single reel, dropping one of your repeats in the second ending of the A-part = AABB with each part and repetition being 4 bars in length...

Single reel

First sorry for the confusion... : / this is my first tune. The notation threw me a bit. Thank you for your comments, and I like the single reel idea! Thanks!

Barndance?

Sort of reminds me of a barndance. Gorgeous tune, especially the alternate ending that leads into the second part.

Ender, tell us something about this, like where it comes from? I wasn't sure how best to get your notice of the ABCs, so I both sent an email and added the same here... At least you managed to catch it before the conversion to dots. There are helpful folk here if you need a second opinion before you get your head around ABCs, don't hesitate to ask. If it is a composition, check the FAQs before posting more... It will reduce potential agro...

Good luck with the ABCs, they are a useful tool and have been for a very long time, pre-computers and the ascii code...

Yes thank you for your help! I did receive the e-mail, and followed some of those links! About the tune though... it's a composition of my own. The title comes from my dog Marty. He was a terrier mix that I adopted at the pound. (The black makes me think part scottish.) Sadly he had a terrible habit of chasing everything that moved, even cars... He slipped out without his leash and, well you get it. With the coming of spring and the nicer weather I just realized how much I miss him.

I find it works well with a slightly up tempo version of The Wedding Reel

The story behind it is welcome, thanks... ;-)
