About the tune:
This tune is written by the Melbourne fiddle player Peter Holmes. It has a great "B" part but some sections need to be put up octave for flute players and the like.
It's name has an interesting history: Peter played in a band with Fergal. After a gig in a Brisbane Club they were enjoying some beer which had been given to them. They didn't know that the beer was stolen and when the police came, Fergal argued the point with them and was taken to the Herschel lock up for the night. Hence the name Fergal's trip to Herschel.
