Once I caught a fish alive...
A great many Cork and Kerry polkas seem to be derived from other tunes - some from other Irish tunes, usually reels, but many from foreign tunes.
I would guess that the common ancestor of this polka and the above nursery rhyme was a polka popular throughout europe sometime in the 19th century.
