1st uploaded piece!

ok, it doesnt really sound like a jig, but thats the best time for it to fit into that i could find. if any better ones are discovered please let me know! play around with the timing a bit - its much more relaxing and slightly slower than your average jig.

"Washington Square Park" ~ composer???

Trying to make some sense of your transcription, so that it at least fits 6/8 bars and the usual ABC conventions ~

Failte secretsquirrel ~ welcome to the yeller board

You can usually get folks to give you some guidance before you start submitting. The usual helps, check the ABC links given here and read the FAQs. It helps and folks generally don't mind being asked questions, for example via 'Discussions', or using TheSesh email system.

"Washington Square Park" is composed by box player Angus Lyon and fiddler Ruaridh Campbell. You can hear it on their album "18th Months Later".

They also kindly supply the dots on their website. http://www.anguslyon.co.uk/manuscript/WashingtonSqPark.pdf

Their "original" version appears to be longer and it also has an upbeat. It's a nice relaxing tune!

Trying to sort it out!

i looked up steve mansfield's site - very useful, thanks ceolachan! i just finished typing out a new ABC (with the rhythm 12-22-32 as opposed to 123-223 in each bar) when i saw creathana's link to the proper music :(
ach well, this is (hopefully) the way that i've heard it played, never mind!

Here is another transcription, ABCs based on the linked to dots above. The only difference is that they start their transcription ~

Feis London

Curiously, this tune was chosen for the groupwork session at Feis London the other weekend.

I have the sheet music and would scan and email if requested for an ABC expert to sort out. It has some interesting accordion chords and a harmony line. Looking at it, I don't think the version on "The session" is quite right yet!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't this tune really be more like a polka?..

Check out Angus and Ruaridh Campbell playing the tune with Bobby McFerrin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_Hv3D-caZs

Wait, no, definitely not in 2/4 at all, upon listening. Definitely not a 6/8, though.

# Posted on July 19th 2011 by JosephC

I would put it in 3/4 - played like a type of Swedish polska or polonaise. The version on the album seems to fit with this rhythm.
