Laird of Cockpen
Sounds like the old Scottish jig Laird of Cockpen to me. Added a couple of titles, there are probably more.

Yes, thanks Matt. It was knocking around in my head that it was associated with a country dance, possibly in one of the Wilson collections, or Playford, but I couldn't quite shake it out. I take it you also have at least one other take on it? I'd love to see it. Is it minor or Dorian?

That makes sense in other ways, having enjoyed the music of Brenda Stubbert, a fine Cape Breton fiddler and a great character. I'll have to see if I have that recording here to check out her take on it...
