Two in a row?

The Old Gort Road
I said I'd have a go at one to go with Cois na hAbhna (http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/8101) so here it is. The building is just up from the Old Gort Road, hence the title.

I never set out to write slides as I felt it would be a bit presumptious with my lack of Sliabh Luachra credentials. However, the melody of the first one, which I intended to be a jig, sounded more like a slide. The first slide was over a week ago "c" and I feel that all tunes should fit into a set even if it's only two!

Hey, I like it, and yes, it's a shlide... You can't go hiding that very easily... Nicely done... I was just teasing you about the FAQs (there isn't a time element listed with regards to the self-composed), but you've earned your stripes, I think?

Slides
Thats a lovely tune, keep them coming

Thanks Corncrake for that vote of confidence. However, I've got to be careful not to contravene Jeremy's 5:1 ratio although I think I've still got two more tunes to go!

Hmmmm, I think we'll have to have a conference on this Bann... Too many of these acts of inspiration and you'll just have to start your own website... Hey you know that little knob, the one on the right of the two sticking out of your neck, give it a little twist until you hear a hissing noise, to let out some steam before your head explodes...

At least it's not another couple of f'n reels...

Very nice tune, Banner. Is it the old road from Gort to Corofin? I've cycled that road a few times. It deserves a tune. And there are not many roads in Galway/Clare with a slide to their name.

Cois na hAbhna (the other slide in the pair) is on the Gort Road just outside of Ennis whereas the Old Gort Road that would have once connected Ennis with Gort and Galway is now a cul de sac next to the Centre. The title of "Gort Road" wouldn't sound traditional enough for a tune which is why I opted for the old road! The road you cycled is farther north but is in a lovely part of Clare on the edge of the Burren and definitely deserves a tune of its own although I think it will have to be someone else as I get the feeling that some people think I'm getting "Too many of these acts of inspiration"
