New York researcher, musician and writer Don Meade says: “Dimity was a coarse cotton fabric most often used for bed clothes, which makes [the title] a coarse invitation.”
'c' ~ I don't think that's coarse at all but quite sweet and inviting on a cold Winter's night...or any night...

Deja vu
Canth - I'm sure I remember seeing this tune being posted by you before. I was certain that I knew it by a different name (which I couldn't remember) and searched through all the slip jigs in G to find it.
)
Anyway, I've just done it again, and it's pretty much the same tune as http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/993
...although yours is a much more elegant version. (Perhaps Jeremy would delete the older one

Or maybe it's a different tune - it's got a different name, after all. Just another point on the spectrum.

Yeah this is the same tune, I reckon.

I'd had similar suspicions and had done the usual extensive search, different keys and bars but nothing came up, despite the 'deja vu' feeling... Ah well...

Dow, you're like a cabbage moth to brussel sprouts when it comes to me slippin' on a digital banana. I have been working on those polkas you sent me, honest...

Maybe it is has enough significant difference that it will survive? At least you guys found the link I couldn't. Weird that, as I must have tried a ton of different permutations on the melody, and in at least three keys ~ D, G & A... Maybe it's also here in F or Bb?

You do know this sort of carry on can lead to other things, don't you? ~
