This is a reel I wrote a couple of years ago, in 2000 to precise.

I never really had a proper name to go with it (well, I had a few, but they all came and went), but given the fact that it was written in first year of the new millenium (what a weird summer that was, doh!), I thought it would make for a good name. I believe the tune is also known as 'The Staggering Reel' or 'Phrase Dance' to some players here in Germany.

There is a lot of syncopation going on here, and these syncopated notes should be played with a slight staccato feel to them.

When I back up the tune, I usually use a strong, funky Em7-based riff,

We play this in tandem with a modified version of Sporting Paddy, where I incorparetd some syncopation and chromatic passing tones. The whole thing goes under 'Grooving Paddy'... ;)

Er...yes...right!

This is an original tune, and I promise to back it up with more trad tunes.

This is a solemn oath!

"This is a reel I wrote a couple of years ago, in 2000 to precise."

I thought you said it was written in the first year of the New Millenium?

Yes, that's right, it should read 2001, but it's a sad fact that you can't edit your postings on this board. ;(

Sorry 'bout that!

Damn! Even the smiley in my last message turned out to be a typo...

Typo

Heh heh, I kind of like the winking frowny face. It reminds me of a frog with an eye infection.

You know my frog, Marty?

# Posted on September 18th 2007 by ethical blend

This tune reminds me of McGoldrick's "Windbroke".

The windbroke frog

"It reminds me of a frog with an eye infection."...Well, yes! :D

Dow: I figure you're referring to the fact that 'Windbroke' uses a lot of syncopated notes as well? Well, I absolutely love stuff like this, and a lot of my own music (ITM-based or not) tends to have syncopation all over the place..
