The Farmers Reel
When I taught this tune to Paddy for the recording I had been told it was composed by Canadian fiddler, band leader and TV showman, Don Messer. Paul Cranford says however, it predates Don Messer's hand and that he did not compose it. It is in some Canadian collections as The Farmer's Reel. As it stands now it is a traditional Canadian maritime tune unless someone has even more in depth history on it.
