Dancing Master

This was one of two hornpipes on a Michael Coleman 78 rpm side that had only one title. This is one that wasn't "Byrnes' Hornpipe." Tommy Hill was a leading step dancer in New York in the 1920's and 30's, so it is likely that Coleman honored him with this name. When Breathnach included it in the first volume of Ceol Rince na hEireann, the title was translated into Irish. Retranslation back to English resulted in the name "Tom of the Hill" on Mick Moloney's solo banjo and mandolin LP.
