"The Murray River Jig" ~ composed by Graham Townsend
I was needing some cheering up today and turned to two musicians to do that for me, Junior Crehan and Willy Taylor. It was the needed therapy... This is a transcription from the playing of Willy Taylor... This jig is also played in A...

Named for a town on PEI it seems, not Australia's dwindling major waterway

East of Belfast and West of Murray Harbour
Yes, but, who's to stop the Ozites from making it their own, eh?
& West of Murray Harbour!

East of Belfast?

Murray River
Cracker of a tune.
Of course, WT plays it as a two step rather than a jig. The Angels of the North play this a lot and we pair it with Alastair J Simm and another tune whose name escapes me for the moment. sorry. Aged parent has been here for a week and Altzheimers seems to be contagious. Its the set that is recorded on Northumberland Rant.

Roland and Cynthia Taylor
I had always assumed that this was a Willy Taylor tune. Is there any evidence to prove its provenance either way?

I'd take Willy's word on it if not mine or Graham Townsend's ~
In Willy Taylor's own words, track 5 on the recording ~
