The Warksburn Waltz

A waltz written perhaps by the Northumbrian fiddler and composer Robert Whinham, who lived through most of the c19.
Warksburn is or was a parish; it is now embedded in the vast expanse of Kielder Forest. It is also the name of a stream.

Is this the only waltz attributed to Whinham? I have never heard of any others.

The Northumbrian Pipers' Second Tune Book says, "attributed to Whinham" - that's all I'm going on. I can't get to the most promising -looking website that mentions him. I gather there's now a book of his tunes ("Remember Me") out now, but haven't got it.

"Tunes with uncertain attribution to Robery Whinham":

Page69: "Warksburn Waltz", source George Heppie

"This was the first tune George Heppie heard on the fiddle when he was a small boy. It was played by Christopher Lieddel whose manuscript is an important source of Whinham's tunes, and attributed to Whinham by him. ~ 'The Warksburn Waltz' was always played for a 'Spanish Waltz'. The Warksburn flows from the Wark Forest and joins the River North Tyne to the south of the village of Wark." ~ Graham Dixon
