The Ballintore
This 12/8 jig I got from the playing of Paddy Keenan. I know there is a similar reel posted here, but this is the correct setting for this tune.

Aren't there two distinct tunes here? The first is a shortened version of "Kitty O'Neill's" (?) and the second is "The Ballintore Fancy" which usually has only two parts. I have not heard the recording in a long time, but doesn't Paddy double-track the pipes and play a counter-melody to the last tune? Is this where you are getting the extra parts? For me Paddy Keenan will always be the King of the Pipers, but with his flair for improvisation, I would be wary of taking any of Paddy's versions as the "correct setting" -- what ever that means.

I mean it's the setting Paddy Keenan plays on his album, and is probably the best known version if you're a piper. Paddy is one of the best there's no doubt about that. He will be playing at the Port Fairy Folk Festival next month in Victoria Australia so I'm looking forward to hearing him. I think this tune was originally played by Leo Rowsome, but Paddy has obviously added his own flair. Regards.

I suppose if you're a piper the more correct and wellknown version would be the one on Leo Rowsome's King of the Pipers recording. Where Keenan got it from. And the two part version would be the 'correct setting' , without the counter bits included.
