Henrik Bjørslev's
I rarely play whistle but always have one lying around within easy reach and the other day this tune fell into my fingers. It’s a solid whistle tune played best at a good clip. I picked it up from a recording by old friends who make up the veteran Copenhagen-based band “Ashplant”. The band has gone through several Irish-Danish line-ups since first formed in the early 80s and continues to make great music by any standards. The lads are great crack into the bargain. The tune is untitled on the recording but is played first time through on whistle by Henrik Bjørslev, also a very fine fluter. In keeping with custom, I have named the tune for Henrik. Maybe someone here will have a title for it. The A part of the tune has something of “The Green Mountain” about it. For those in search of an instant set, the lads follow it with “Miss Johnson”.
