Doherty's Jig
I put this one in D although it flip flops between Dmajor & DMixolydian all over the place. The trick to this tune is to sort out the C naturals from the C#'s. the rest is gravy. I've heard this jig used to start off the "Cock & The Hen/Humours of Whiskey" (Slip Jigs) set with great effect. This is one of those tunes that works great on every instrument. If Johnny Doherty actually wrote it I have no clue.

John Doherty's Jig
Joel Bernstein and Randall Bays have a jig with the same name in a medly that follows with another jig - "The Humours of Trim".
They recorded it on the "Pigtown Fling" CD. I think it might be played in the Key of A in their version, if indeed it's actually the same tune.

The recording "Mad Baloney's" referring to with the 2 slip-jigs is the first "Cherish The Ladies" album, recorded in 1985/1986 ?
Played as a flute duet by Patty Bronson and Laura MacKenzie, accompanied by Daithi Sproule on guitar.
