Pointing Joe McGann's Fiddle

This is a purpose-built Highland pipe tune. The notes in the version here are unpointed, which makes connecting notes as significant as major melody notes. For those who don't know the Highland bagpipe hornpipe idiom, this destroys the tune!

Now, most good musicians folk and traditional Celtic musicians will naturally point the music by "feel." Usually, the formula for this type of hornpipe is a very strong dot-cut-dot-cut, but with a number of critical dot-cut-cut-dot groups.

There are more modern rounded hornpipes (very popular today), often called hornreels, but this ain't one of 'em.
