Tioram Castle
Castle Tioram (pronounced 'Cheerum') was the former seat of the MacDonalds of Clan Ranald. During the Jacobite rebellion the Laird of the day had a premonition the night before he set out to battle that he wouldn't return so and he torched it (so as not to let it fall into enemy hands).
It used to be a centre for song, dance and poetry but has been a ruin ever since. I wrote this while sitting near the banks of Loch Moidart, looking at the ruined castle and wondering what it was like before it was burnt down.
I play the triplets on my mandolin using a 'hammer-on, pull-off' combination. I slide the g to a slurs in the B part and, to make life easier with the high c', I take advantage of the g-a slide to shift to a higer position and then play the subsequent f and e notes on the second string instread of the e string (well, I find that helps the flow).
