About this tune

I have been experimenting with tunes in hornpipe rhythm and this is a piece I have composed which is derives from the traditional style which I exposed to growing up. I of course play this tune with a more sprung/syncopated timing than ABC can describe.

Belfast Hornpipe + another

The 'A' music of your tune is identical with the 'A' music of the 'Belfast Hornpipe' as I have it in my collection. this varies very sligytly with the one already in the sesion archives http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/4
your 'B' music is also very similar to another hornpipe, the name of which escapes me at the moment, but I will investigate. Possibly someone else on the session will get there before me. probably ceolachan.

Sprung/syncopated

ABC will allow you to write with a 'sprung/syncopated!!' style. You need to investigate further. i know that a lot of people tend to submit hornpipes without indicating the dotted notes but I would do what you want to in order to get across exactly what you intend.
many people here refer to it as having 'swing'. incidntly my version of Belfast Hornpipe is with the dotted (swung) notes.

The B-part is like the last part of the Derry Hornpipe.

I'm still in lurk mode. You guys do such an excellent job. I caught the sims when he first contributed this, and it was a bit like that thing I've mentioned before ~ 'chalk squeak', that I had to escape before I started screaming. It is so much of a patch job from the two hornpipes that I just couldn't comment, retreating in disbelief... :-/ You are more the gentleman here than I. I would not have been so kind...

Gentlemen! ~ There being two of ye! So are you both coming over for lasagna, home made, and the scents are wafting through the house now.

Afterwards we could play a game, get a bunch of parts from different hornpipes, mix them up in a hat and then just pull them out in pairs and try them this way and that, eh? Then we could go on to other forms and do the same thing...

'c', maybe you should change your screen name. That did wonders for me. My personality has totally changed as a result, and I don't scream at people anymore. If you change your ways and show that you can behave and stop having screaming tantrums then I'll consider inviting you over for tea at my place :-)

I'll go see the doc and see if I can get some meds so such things don't raise my blood pressure so...or maybe just imbide more alcohol, since I'm one of those jolly dousy drunks...no violence once the alcohol has eaten away an inhibitions ~ except I tend to sing... :-/ Maybe that isn't such a good idea?

Hey, sticky sheet, at least the worst I've had to face with my alias here is being called an old, should have been extinct long ago, 'odd fish', as in coelacanth... Now, 'Noxious Blanket' presents endless possibilities...while 'Dow' just has a few, or at least has an air of respectability about it, eh? ;-)
