Anyone catching a few comments I made about finding barndances notated as 12/8, along the lines of a slide, well, Dow/Mark took my attention in finding this highland fling notated as a slide... Thanks for the that Mark, it is sure to get me in trouble now with GM...

I've just noticed a missed screw-up in the notation, the B-Part should not have that repeat sign at the beginning. The ABC's have been corrected. In total the tune is only 16 bars, 8 total for the A-part and it's repeat, and 8 for the B-part...as it shows for the single reel in the comments previously... Apologies...

Brilliant Nico, thanks tons.
The collection "Tunes of the Munster Pipers" has been on my wish list ever since it was released...

Thanks and you're welcome.
I've been wondering about ask my father and this tune for a while, thinking that they kind of work better as flings than slides / single jigs, and also just thinking about that whole relationship in general, so when I was perusing the TofMP again this morning it finally jumped out at me.
You should definitely get the book, it is very very interesting and useful.
One of the curious things is that almost all the reels in the book are single reels, and a fair few of them might as well be flings (like this one) or barndances, but there's no distinction made.

The move from fling to single reel is a small step often made...
