Back to Skibbereen

First tune I post on thesession!
I heard this tune on Garry Walsh's CD "Uncovered". Skibbereen is a lovely town in West Cork where I lived for a year (and learned about irish music). The tune really fits the mood I'm in when I want to be "back in Skibbereen"....

Nice Jig

Do you know anything about it's age or origins?

Garry Walsh writes that he learned the tune from the lilting of his mother who is from Skibbereen and who in turn learned it from her father.... Most of the tunes on the CD are old, nearly forgotten tunes from the playing of his grandparents - from West Cork and Drogheda
