The Black Frog

Transcribed from the lovely playing of Enda Scahill on his cd, Pick It Up. He's up a half step, in Eb, so capo or tune up if you want to play along with the cd.

What a long transcription - Will do you have a fixation with Frogs?

Wow... I downloaded the midi and it started playing as I went to pour another cup of coffee. It was still playing when I got back. :-O

Well, I transcribed this for someone who wanted to learn the tune as Enda plays it, so I transcribed the whole thing, three times through. Which makes it a terrific lesson in how a banjo player might change things up each time around, particularly paying attention to how the triplets can come either on top of the beat or after.

And I liked the title. Anyone know who wrote this? The liner notes don't say.

Composer

The notes say, "The Black Frog is a tune I wrote about 6 years ago in Galway."

I got a copy of the CD directly from Enda during my first visit to Ireland. Have you got a reissued copy, Will?

P.S. Will, your transcription is too long even if it's accurate and helpful for banjo players. You should have made it simple and post all the variations in the comment.

I cleaned up the ABC a little to make it easier to read. However, I don't know how to make it an addendum to the original file. Any tips? My first time.

Here's the ABC of what I cleaned up:
