Scottish?
This is probably a bagpipe tune and scottish. But you don't see many scottish slides do you? (you might though). It may of origanally been a jig then changed into a slide? oh well never mind it's a great tune anyway no matter what type it is!!

Irish?
The Oslo-based band Tara recorded this one, with another slide "familiar" to this, on their cassette(!) back in the day. I will ask the remaining members of the band about where they got this one from.

"Cnoc na gClarac" / "Tom Carroll's"
The second name for this tune is again from Dan Herlihy's creative license to rename an old boot, but as such is non-standard...

Nelly Mahony's
This is definitely an Irish tune. It comes from the Sliabh Luachra area.
The summer of 2006 I was at the Catskills Irish Arts Week and the then owner of the Fern Cliff, Con had his father visiting from Ireland. We were chatting about music and he lilted a slide for me (in his own special way). He said his aunt wrote it. I asked what her name was and he said Nelly Mahony. I had remembered hearing the tune on a Tabache CD and later when I looked it up I was surprised to find it named Nelly Mahony's.
