All Around Aunt Ruby's Garden #1
The first time I heard this tune it was played by a group of session players who called themselves Snotty Var for their one and only (?) album. I then heard it again as the second tune in Frank Maher's "Running the Goat" set. I'm not sure if he is the original composer or if this is a traditional tune, these are the only recordings of this tune that I know of.
There is lots of room for ornamentation in this tune, I usually cut on the F's in the second and fourth measure (similarly throughout the rest of the tune) and add the odd roll here and there but basically keep it simple.

Minor techincality...
It never actually occurred to me to mention this, this tune isn't a polka but is a single. Ok, singles are a popular type of tune common in Newfoundland music. They are played in two, you know, one-two one-two one-two, much like a polka, but are a bit faster and "feel" a little bit different... how's that for vague! As always, the best way to learn tunes is to hear them played so you'll just have to visit Newfoundland to get the feel for singles.
